IN 2008, SOLARA SURGICAL PARTNERS WAS STARTED to meet the need presented by physicians wanting to control the surgical experience of their patients by developing their own ambulatory surgery center or surgical hospital in partnership with Solara, and benefit from our company’s experience in facility development and management. Based in Dallas, Texas, Solara has built a team of industry experts with a successful track record of development and management of over 100 facilities nationwide.

The Solara management team handles all aspects of the life cycle of a surgical facility: from physician recruitment, initial licensure, design and construction oversight to operational and financial management. Our

experience and dedication empower us to professionally manage the needs and values set in place by the physicians.

Our years of experience working with various ownership structures has proven that the ownership model with physicians as the majority owner is the most effective. The physicians and Solara each play an important role in a successful surgery center or surgical hospital venture. However, we believe that in order to sustain the long-term viability of the surgical facility, it is best that the physicians have a vested interest. This model preserves the incentive for both the physicians and SSP to ensure the project’s success.

ADVANTAGES TO PHYSICIANS

Solara Surgical Partners understands the importance of physician input and involvement in the surgical facility. Our philosophy is that the surgical facility should be majority owned and governed by the physicians allowing them to realize the financial gains from their commitment and support of the surgery center or hospital.

Another advantage is the flexible and assured scheduling of the operating room. Many physicians are frustrated with maintaining their scheduled case-times at the local hospital. In contrast, the office staff at the surgical facility works closely with the physician’s office so that scheduling is predictable, simple and convenient.

A third benefit is the operating efficiency of the surgery center or hospital. The layout of the center is designed to accommodate the needs of the physician and patient by providing a smooth operational flow. With minimal OR turnover time, efficient patient flow, and dedicated staff, the operating physician can reduce his down time between procedures. In addition, the location of the facility is determined by the physician partners and therefore minimizes drive time for the surgeon and patient.

Finally, physicians are involved in the purchasing of equipment and supplies to ensure that their individual needs are being met and that the highest quality of care is delivered to their patients.
